The English dictionary definition of research is:
‘The systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions’
For me the fundamental purpose of research associated with health care is to improve future treatments and service provision. It is also an opportunity to answer unsolved questions. As Patient Service Manager I’m always looking for ways to improve patient experience and research is an opportunity for them to get involved. Research raises the profile of the surgery and helps with future recruitment and development.
I am excited about the future of research for Clarence Medical Centre, Rhyl and North Wales, and with the support given to me by Melissa Van Der Bijl (NISCHR CRC) I feel confident in being able to deliver the very best for our surgery.
Treatments have benfited from research and wil continue to benefit from research that is currently being undertaken.
Research can find answers to the things that are unknown, filling gaps in knowledge and changing the way that healthcare professionals work. This means treatment, care and patient’s quality of life are improved and avoidable early deaths are prevented.
